Every mapped set has a table: rarity → cards in the set → how many drop from a single box. It is built from the real box structure — a fixed number of packs, tracks inside a pack, slots and guaranteed cards. To find how many boxes one card of a rarity takes, divide one by the "per box" number.
A box is not a bag of random cards. It holds a fixed number of packs, a pack holds fixed tracks, and a track draws its card from its slot.
This is why the odds for a rarity and the odds for one particular card are different numbers: the slot in the box is fixed, but which card fills it depends on the set print run.
Here is how one of the Goddess Story sets is built. Read the nesting top down: a case holds boxes, a box holds packs, a pack holds tracks, and a track draws its card from a slot.
This box guarantees: eight packs with the SSR/SER slot — on average seven SSR cards and one SER — one pack with the UR/PTR slot, and one PR. In the remaining 21 packs that track yields SR or SCR.
It is an expected value: how many cards of that rarity an average box yields.

An expected value describes the average box over a long run, not the one in your hands. Only cards with a guarantee in the box structure are actually guaranteed.
Divide the expected number of cards of a rarity per box by how many cards of that rarity the set has.
The maths assumes all cards of a rarity are equally likely. Where cards carry a print number, rare print runs show up less often — such a card costs more than the estimate suggests.
Some odds are official, others are reconstructed. We do not pass the latter off as the former.
Even an official table describes an average box: manufacturers change contents between print runs, and some cards are printed in limited quantities.
